Località della Costa Brava e della Costa Maresme

Costa Brava

It is the classic name of the coast in the province of Girona, which stretches for 214 km from the French border to Blanes. The Costa Brava alternates unique landscapes, with steep coastlines and overhanging cliffs, beautiful coves and extraordinary golden and fine sandy beaches. Its modern tourist infrastructure makes the Costa Brava one of the most important tourist destinations in Spain.

Costa del Maresme

The first part of the Costa Daurada, which goes from Rio Tordera to Barcelona, is called Maresme, the great Mediterranean vegetable garden, with vegetables and fruits arriving fresh at the markets of the Catalan capital. It's easy to guess why the Costa Daurada (Dorada, in Castilian) is so called. None of the overhanging rocks of the Costa Brava, but large fine and golden sandy beaches which, combined with an always clear sky, swept by the seré in winter and the garbí in summer, and with its shallow and clean waters, ensure this coast is a retreat and a holiday resort for both the people of Barcelona and for foreigners.

Lloret de Mar

It is the most famous resort of the Costa Brava, an ancient reality with its own history and a particular life style. Its central white streets have become a market where you can find anything. The night life is truly buzzing, there are many nightclubs and for all tastes. Its beaches are unique because of the phenomenon of the periodic sand transfer which makes them clean and new every day; they extend for nearly a kilometre.

Malgrat de Mar

Malgrat de Mar is part of the Maresme region, north of the province of Barcelona. It has a clean sandy beach of about 7 kilometres, and offers many high-quality hotels and a variety of camping sites. The old town has the church of Sant Nicolau, with an octagonal neoclassical tower façade, known as the cathedral of the coast, which is worth visiting. There are also medieval and modern style buildings. The castle is surrounded by a park with magnificent views over the city.

Santa Susanna

Santa Susanna was the first municipality on the Costa Brava-Maresme to have been certified as a place of excellence for Family Tourism, which guarantees specific services for families and children. Santa Susanna is one of the favourite destinations of young people thanks to its high concentration of venues and nightlife. The beaches are the best equipped of all this stretch of the Costa Maresme. They are typical urban beaches, right next to the city centre and the hotel area.

Calella

It stretches along a vast sandy beach, clean and golden, an ideal town from which you can hike to the most interesting locations in Catalonia. The importance of the town is highlighted by numerous cultural, folkloristic and sports events. Not surprisingly Calella is also known as the tourist capital of the Costa del Maresme. Thanks to its excellent location, about 30 km from Barcelona (there is a train departing from Malgrat de Mar to Barcelona every 15 minutes), Calella is also ideal for winter stays.
